Furniture comes apart on the drive rather than on the truck. A wardrobe taken to panels rides at a fifth of the volume it stands at, and volume is the whole of the bill.

Garage & loft
The awkward, heavy, half-forgotten end of a clearance.
Garages fill with the things that were too good to throw away and too big to keep indoors. Tyres, paint-free tins, bikes, timber offcuts, the second fridge.
This is the room where packing earns its keep: it is mostly small rigid objects, and small rigid objects thrown on the truck cost twice what the same objects squared off do.

Office strip-out
Desks, chairs, cabinets and cable, out of hours if the building needs it.
End of lease, a floor handed back, or a move that left the old furniture behind. We work to a dilapidations deadline and we do not block the goods lift.
Office chairs nest once the gas lifts are out; cabinets ride on their sides with the drawers stacked separately. A floor of forty desks fits in fewer loads than anyone expects.

Garden waste
Green waste, turf, decking, fence panels and the rubble under them.
Bagged green waste is the cheapest thing on a truck, because it goes where nothing rigid can: into the voids the load already has.
Soil and rubble are the opposite — heavy, and priced by weight above half a tonne. We say so on the phone before we come, not on the invoice after.

Appliances
Fridges, freezers, washers and cookers, handled to the regulations.
A fridge is not general waste. The refrigerant and the foam are degassed at a permitted facility, and the paperwork for that follows the unit, not the truck.
They are also the single biggest thing most jobs put on the bed. A fridge-freezer laid on its back and squared to the tailgate takes an eighth on its own; standing up it takes closer to two.

What we don't take
A registered waste carrier's licence is not a licence for everything. These two are still standing in the room at the end of this page, and they will still be standing when our truck has gone.
Hazardous waste travels under a consignment note to a permitted site, in a vehicle authorised for it. Putting it on a clearance truck is how a firm loses its licence, so we tell you where it goes instead and we tell you before we arrive, not on the doorstep.
